Cleaning an arm prosthesis

Spray the prosthetic glove with a special cleaner available from your prosthetist. Because there are different cleaning agents, please be sure to follow the specific instructions of your technician.

Rub the glove thoroughly with a dry, lint-free cloth. This will remove any dirt on the surface of the prosthetic glove.

Now it is the turn of the outer shaft. Clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Use a little water with pH-neutral soap. Then wash off the soap with clean water.

After you have removed your prosthesis, you should also clean the inner socket thoroughly with water and pH-neutral soap. Then wipe the inner socket with clean water to remove the soap residue.

When you have finished, it is essential that your prosthesis dries completely. Place it in a dry place and do not use any additional heat source (such as a hair dryer or heater).

Cleaning a silicone liner

To clean your silicone liner, first turn it inside out and let sufficient water flow over the surface of the liner.

Now rub the silicone liner with pH-neutral soap. After you have rinsed off the soap with water, you can dry your liner with a towel.

Finally, you should spray the silicone liner with disinfectant. After rinsing the disinfectant with clean water, you should leave the liner in a dry place and put it on only when it is completely dry.
